Introduction to the New Drug Discovery Division

We conduct research on new drug development based on novel compounds.

The CMG Pharmaceutical New Drug Discovery Division conducts research on new drug design, synthesis, evaluation, and optimization. The division has established a rapid and precise research system through collaboration with the CHARI (Cha Medical Research Institute) via an internal network.

CMG Pharma’s New Drug Discovery Division remains dedicated to strengthening its competitive edge in innovative technologies through differentiated expertise and OPEN INNOVATION, while simultaneously pursuing a globalization strategy through domestic and international licensing.

Core Technologies

The New Drug Discovery Division aims to address unmet medical needs and contribute to the improvement of human health through the discovery of innovative synthetic drugs.
To this end, we conduct medicinal chemistry-based synthetic research, utilize artificial intelligence platforms, and conduct PK (pharmacokinetics)/PD (pharmacodynamics) studies.

Introduction to Platform Technologies

The New Drug Discovery Division leads the discovery of optimal drug candidates and drug repositioning through various platforms.

  • Medicinal Chemistry

We analyze the reaction mechanisms by which drugs act within the body at the molecular level, and establish correlations between chemical structure and biological activity, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity to design and synthesize drugs with enhanced functionality.

  • In silico study

This technology uses computers to design or discover drugs, calculating drug-related data through computer-based analysis to design and optimize promising compounds.

  • PK/PD study

We study drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion through pharmacokinetics (PK) and analyze the biological responses induced by drugs through pharmacodynamics (PD) to verify drug efficacy in vivo and determine appropriate dosages for drug development.

Research and Development Projects

Based on our research into targeted anticancer agents, the New Drug Discovery Division successfully secured a global license-out in 2021.
We are currently focused on discovering innovative new drugs by identifying additional targeted anticancer agent candidates and conducting early-stage research on anticancer and anti-inflammatory agents.
